Happy Purim

Today is the Jewish Festival of Purim. Here's a short version of the story, to get it all you should read the book of Ester.

While the Jews were living in exile in Persia, King Achashveyrosh had his wife executed for being disobedient. After winning a beauty contest, Ester became his wife though she kept the fact that she was Jewish hidden.

When the Prime Minister, Haman, because irritated with the Jews who considered their faith to be more important than the state. Haman hatched a plan to exterminate the Jews on one day.

When Ester heard of the plan she fasted and prayed. Then she went before the King unannounced, even though she knew she might be killed. At a dinner, she revealed to the King and the Prime Minister that she was Jewish and would have to be killed. The King was furious, executed Haman and ensures that the Jewish people can continue to practice their Religious Liberty.
