Easter Metaphors

Our parish preschoolers have been learning about the Easter Story. One way we understand Jesus’ story better is by looking at the signs of spring around us.

Last fall, we planted tulip bulbs. They didn’t look alive, but slowly we have seen them return to life in the warmth of the spring sun.

This spring, we watched our caterpillars go into their chrysalides. It looked as though they had died, but one day we were surprised to find a crysalid had opened and a beautiful butterfly had emerged, just as Jesus did on Easter.

This week we said good bye to our butterflies as we released them outdoors. We are sad to see them go, but happy they are free. We are happy to know that Jesus died so that we can one day see his father in heaven. We are happier still to know he rose from the dead and is still alive today!
