2015 Bible Bowl

Yesterday two contestants from every classroom competed in the Bible Bowl. These were actually three competitions taking place at the same time as all the classes gathered to watch.

Slowly the number of contestants dwindled until ...

 ... there was only one.

It was a very fun event.

Bible Bowls

Early this week we had three Bible Bowls going on at the same time. One was for those in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Another for 3rd and 4th graders and a third for the older students. In each case students were quizzed on their knowledge of the Bible and our faith.

The Bible Bowl

Two students each from the 4th, 5th and 6th grades at St. Columbkille Catholic School. The event was hosted by St. Bernard's School as students from throughout the area competed.

Students were divided into small groups of six, then competed against each other.

In a "Wheel of Fortune" style competition students worked to solve puzzles.

Each student competed in three rounds with different competitors each time.

With Mrs. Townsend as the advisor, St. Columbkille the overall champion. In addition our two sixth graders finished 1st and second overall. Congratulations!

Thank you to St. Bernard
 School for holding this event

Bible Bowls

There were three Bible Bowls held today at St. Columbkille Catholic School as students competed in different age groups. The class champions in the older groups would read the question on the screen ...

... write out their answer ...

... then hold it up. Students were eliminated as they got two wrong.

In the younger grades the class representatives lined up and answered the questions one by one.

As the contest continued, there were less and less contestants ...

... until the champion was determined.

Through the experience the students were able to show that they know a lot about the Bible and the Church.

PS -- If you happened to notice that a number of students were wearing pink today, know that it was part of an effort to promote awareness of breast cancer.
