Question: What is the liturgical reason for having the baptismal font empty in Easter?
Answer: There is no liturgical reason for it being empty, just a practical one. When the font was emptied for Holy Week, we discovered there was glue or sealant leaking through. It looks like it will be several weeks before it is fixed.

Preparing
The baptismal font may not look any different from last weekend, but underneath the work is progressing. It should be ready for use on Wednesday.
Here's a little peek to give an indication of what the base will look like.
Today the doors of the tabernacle are open, anxious to receive the Eucharist for the first time.
After communion, there will be a Eucharistic Procession ending with the arrival of the Eucharist in this tabernacle.
That also means that the Adoration Chapel will soon be open for silent prayer.

Working on a Snow Day
Some may have had today as a snow day, but work continued on the baptismal font ...
... the new storage room ...
... converting the old Usher's/Server's
Room to hold the elevator ...
... and the new crucifix.
So for some, it was a very busy day.

The Baptismal Font
The baptismal font is being redone. When
finished it will match the altar/ambo/tabernacle.
The first step was tearing it apart.
The third was testing the seal.
It will look a little different this weekend.
