Happy 125th Anniversary

On this day in 1885, the Omaha Archdiocese was created.

That was just 8 years after St. Columbkille began as a parish. At that time, the Omaha Archdiocese contained all of Nebraska and Wyoming. Today there are three dioceses in Nebraska and another in Wyoming.

In recognition of this date we pray:

Almighty and Eternal Father,
through the intercession of Mary,
the Mother of God, St. Joseph,
her most chaste spouse, St. Cecilia,
our patroness, the angels and all our
patron saints, we ask your blessing.

We lift to you, Heavenly Father,
our Archbishop, priests, deacons,
consecrated men and women, and
all the faithful. Bless us and make
us holy, grant us holy vocations, and
keep us in your providential care.

We ask this, Father, in the name of
Jesus Christ, your son, who lives
and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever and ever
Amen.
