Ordinary Time begins today. As a season of the liturgical calendar yesterday, The Baptism of the Lord, was the last day of Christmas. Ordinary Time is a translation of the Latin phrase "Tempus Per Annum" (literally "time through the year"). During this period, our Gospel readings focus on what Jesus did during his ministry. The liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green.
