20,000 meals could feed 120,000

Our 7th grade Confirmation students raised $5,000. This was enough to purchase enough food for 20,000 meals through Kids against Hunger. Then 130 students and parents packed the meals.

When we first talked to Kids Against Hunger about the project, they were a little reluctant. In the past other churches had had the same idea, but no one had ever made it work before. So congratulations to our seventh graders and Religious Formation staff for coming through.

Each meal contains rice, six vegetables, protein, 21 vitamins and minerals. Each bag contains six servings of the dehydrated food which, when boiled, will serve six children and provide all the vitamins and minerals they need for a day. Two thousand meals will be used in the area. Two Thousand will be reserved for emergency use when a crisis occurs somewhere. The rest of the meals will be used overseas.
