"Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song."
- Pope John Paul II
Our celebration of the Easter Triduum has now ended, but the Easter Season is certainly not over! The Easter Season lasts fifty days. After forty days spent preparing for Easter, we have seven weeks to rejoice and celebrate how we are blessed with eternal life through Christ’s sacrifice and our baptism.
As the Blessing of Water in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) tells us, through the waters of baptism they were “filled with new life as [God’s] very own children”. It also reminds us that “from all who are baptized in water and the Holy Spirit, [God] has formed one people, united in [his] Son, Jesus Christ.”
Throughout the Easter Season, we will recall our baptism and celebrate our salvation through the Rite of Sprinkling of Holy Water in our Introductory Rites of Mass.
Rejoice
