Science Fair

Nineteen exhibits were entered in the inaugral Science Fair.

Not only did the participants learn about science ...

but it was also a chance to teach what was learned ...

through hands on experiments.

Congratulations everyone!

Research Design Implementation

A fourth quarter project in 8th grade science was kite flying.

The students first researched kites.
Then they designed a kite.
Then they implemented the design.
Today they saw how well they could fly.

Each student evaluated how well their kite
flew and made any necessary adjustments to it.

Flying a kite can be a good way to learn science.

Science Fair

Dr. Ein & Dr. Stein (transfer students from the Ralston School of Cosmetology) visited the 5th-8th grade classrooms to tell about their entry in the upcoming Science Fair.

They have been working on a formula to shrink things. Knowing how much students like vegetables in general, and Brussels sprouts in particular, they have invented a formula to shrink a day's worth of vegetables into a small spoon.

Unfortunately Fr Damian seemed to have stopped by their secret lab and drank from their beaker...

... shrinking him.

They are working to find a way to fix him before the Weekend Masses.

Thursday is the deadline to sign up to participate in the Science Fair. Students in grades 5 to 8 may sign up as an individual or as part of a team: just like Drs Ein & Stein.

Science & Solar Power

In Sixth Grade students studied how, many parts of the world, people must find ways to harness solar energy to heat their water. Thus sprang and expirement where students worked to see how much they could heat up water using some simple aids like aluminum foil.

Tomorrow they will discuss what worked, what didn't, and why.
