Praying for Newtown

Today, before St. Columbkille and Christ the King played their 4th grade basketball game, the players, refs and coaches gathered to pray for those in and affected by the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

 Seeing the bigger picture, both
teams were winners at the end.

Show us, Lord, the immense power of your goodness, that, as we weep for our brothers and sisters taken from us by a sudden death, we may be confident that they have passed over into your eternal company. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.*

Praying for Rain

In today's Collect Prayer (the opening prayer) Fr. Vogel took advantage of the option to pray for rain. The prayer goes like this

O God, in whom we live and move and have our being, grant us sufficient rain, so that being supplied with what sustains us in this present life, we may seek more confidently what sustains us for eternity.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Welcoming the Roman Missal

A few weeks ago about 120 of our parishioners gathered to learn about the upcoming changes in the Roman Missal. David Batter and Fr. Damian led the explanation of what is changing and why.

If you missed it, we have the handouts and a number of
the videos used here on our parish website.
