While many of us have been learning about our next Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor), he might have been wondering about us. He stopped by yesterday and met Judy our secretary.
Fr. Dave let him take a peek at what will be his office in just over five weeks.
He stopped by the Education where he met our Religious Formation team and the School Principals.
He not only got a very warm welcome from a group of first grade students, he also discovered that his picture has been in the front of the class all year. The students have been praying for him and all the seminarians. We especially pray as he will be ordained Fr. Pat Nields on June 4th.

25 Years Teaching Together
This is the 25th year Mrs. Loeffler and Mrs. English have been teaching 1st Grade side by side. Today we celebrated them.
Afterwards Mrs. English asked her class, "How did you keep this a secret?" Then added, "I thought the exciting thing about the assembly would be Mr. Makey and Fr. Dave getting a pie in their face. Instead there were 500 pictures of me and you know how I don't like pictures of me."
One of the gifts to Mrs. Loeffler and Mrs. English were these marble jars. Every current student at St. Columbkille Catholic School made a fingerprint of a marble in the class they attended.

Singing for the Happy Club
Yesterday the first grade students from St. Columbkille Catholic School sang and read for the Senior Happy Club. They opened with this first grade favorite:
First grade has been studying our fifty states. They educated everyone about each of the states.
One of the students learned God Bless America on the piano so he could accompany the group.

A 50 States Party
A postcard mailed from each of the 50 States has been received by the First Grade students at St. Columbkille Catholic School. That meant that they got to have a 50 States Party today.
Each student could wear items from a states. Then they were asked if they could name the capital of that state. Each state could count once in their points and they would also receive one point for every correct capital.

The students colored in their map
for every state represented.
Then each class calculated their scores.
Students had also brought
treats representing states....
... which they got to enjoy while watching
a movie about the states.
It was a fun activity on Mardi Gras!
