Picnic with the Padres

In addition to our pastor Fr. Dave Reeson ...

... Fr. Vogel (who will leave Thursday) ...

... and Fr. Pat (who will start Friday) ...

... Fr. Dave decided to let some other folks see what
they would look like as a priest or vowed religious.

It was just part of the fun at the
Picnic with the Padres on Sunday.

Prepared For Ceili

To be prepared for Ceili

  1. Check out the Program Book.
  2. Make sure your phone is fully charged: We're bidding using our phones or a courtesy iPad. Don't worry, you don't need to download an app and it works even if your phone just texts.
  3. Be at Embassy Suites at 5:00 tomorrow (Saturday) ready for a great time!

Enjoy!

Thanks to Ceili's 2015 Helping Hand!

You may not even notice it, but every classroom in the education center has one of these units. It allows for a wireless connection into our network. One of beautiful things about the network is that as Principal Makey carries an iPad from room to room, it will automatically connect without him doing a thing.

These units are just a part of the funds raised by the 2015 project done at Columb's Ceili this year. Every year the Ceili raises funds for a project to help the campus. This year it was working with the technology backbone to allow greater bandwidth and possibilies in the classrooms of the school and Religious Formation.

Dan Sullivan has been busy getting
 them all installed this summer.

In the classrooms, the lower grades have been doing more with iPads while the upper grades have been doing more with Chromebooks. With this work, we expect it to not only handle these needs, but also whatever gets invented next.

Thanks Ceili!

It was a Fiesta

This afternoon was the Ceili Buy-in event of the Fiesta with Fr Dave.

Almost right away Fr Dave was a target for the ring toss game.

Fr Dave also gave rides in his thing.

Fr Roza is now the director of vocations for the archdiocese, but his first assignment was at St. Columbkille. Yesterday he was reunited with the first child he baptized.

Some of our FOCUS missionaries were able to visit after the 5:00 Mass. Fr. Norman also stopped by after saying the 5:00 Mass at his parish.

How could you not have a pinata at a Fiesta?

There was fun all around.

Fiesta with Fr Dave

A popular buy-in at Ceili each year has been the Picnic with the Priests. In the past this has been done in the pastor's backyard, but since the ground around Fr Dave's yard is so hole-y, we're holding it at the athletic fields on Sunday, July 19th from 4:00 to 8:00. (In the Social Hall if it rains)

This is a Fiesta for everyone, families, couples and singles! Enjoy an evening of family fun with our new pastor. Our fiesta picnic will have you enjoying tacos, salads, desserts, beer, pop and all the fixin’s. This is a fun outdoor social event for the entire family!

You can register for the fun here anytime through Thursday night.

Ceili Kick-off Party

Columb's Ceili is Saturday, March 7th 2015. Fr Damian calls it the "signature event" of the parish. It is a chance for people to come together at a nice event and raise some money at the same time.

The Ceili Kick-Off party Thursday night is a lot of fun. It is a chance to mingle with fellow parishioners and learn about ways to help at Ceili in a low pressure, fun environment.

Ceili Gave Us a Sign

It was Dr. Blue who had pointed out there were no sings on the north side of the Education Center. In response, the 2013 Ceili Committee decided to make a digital sign their Helping Hands project.

The unanticipated problem with a digital sign along Cornhusker, was the question of where to locate the sign? It was soon realized that due to trees and the hill, there was no one spot where the sign could be seen from both sides.

One idea was to locate the sign on the south side of the block. The first concern with that is that it wouldn't help accomplish the original goal to identify the building. The second was that the primary readers of a sign on the south side would be parents dropping off or picking up kids -- whom we ought not distract.

So along with putting some signs on the building to identify it, the decision was made to locate the digital sign along 84th street and use it to promote the parish and all of our activities.
