A shot at Fr Vitalis' home

Fr. Vitalis, one of our former Pastoral Associates, was not at his rectory when a shot was fired into his home. Here is some of the story from KETV:

A light of hope still shines bright at Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, even as its sense of security sits shattered.

“The shot was fired, and I saw the glass coming all the way through here,” described Sonja Puszewski, a church volunteer. “I jumped on the floor right here. I kind of went down to sit here.”

Puszewski was cleaning the parish rectory Monday when what sounded like fireworks ripped a hole through a church window.

“I crawled along on the floor, over there,” said Puszewski. “It's very scary. It's unbelievably scary.”

Mrs. Puszewski

At the end of the school year a number of staff changes were announced and there was a chance to say farewell to them. There is information on the new teachers on the school website. But at that time we didn't know Mrs. Puszewski would be leaving as well.

Although she began at St. Columbkille Catholic School as a Kindergarten aide, for the last several years she has been the school secretary. For many she has been the first contact and face of the school. She says she will miss all the parents and the students, but we "can't get rid of her" as she'll be ever active around the parish.

We wish her well on her new work at Westside.
